Let others lead small lives, but not you.

I tell people my greatest fear is being 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years old and still be living in crisis mode. I don't want to be older and "just hanging in there" or "living paycheck to paycheck" or "going from emergency to emergency" or "surviving." I don't want to be older and running around like crazy being busy with a million different things and still feel like I can't "get it together."

It's one thing to be going through a hard time, a tough season in life. It's another thing to be ceaselessly complicating life because we just don't stop and think. It's hard. What are we supposed to think about? Where are we supposed to start? Here are few quotes that point the way:

"Complicated problems ALWAYS have SIMPLE solutions."
- Switch

"To have more, we must first become more."
- Jim Rohn

"Success is not something to be pursued. It is something to be attracted by the person you become."
- Jim Rohn

"Formal education will make you a living. Self-education will make you a fortune."
- Jim Rohn

"You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with."
- Jim Rohn
"Things don't go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be."
- Charles Jones
"You are the same today that you are going to be five years from now except for two things: the people with whom you associate and the books you read."
- Charles Jones
I come across people who I really want to help. I wish I could just tell them, "Here, do this and this and this, and life could be better for you! You don't have to go down the road of mass thinking!"

But I've learned one very important thing.
It is practically impossible for someone to become more, do more, take a better path, pivot into a new direction, go against the grain, if they are not willing to do two things:

1) Read personal development books consistently.

2) Associate with ambitious people who strive for excellence and are smarter than you.

I realize that if we will just do these two things consistently for the rest of our lives, then we shield ourselves against living lives of mediocrity and we'll get to graduate from living at a level of constant crisis to living at a level of success and then, still further, living at a level of significance.

And I want to mention that there is another extremely helpful success practice that is just as important as reading and associating. It's listening. Listening to audios by the great personal development coaches such as Jim Rohn, Earl Nightingale, and Les Brown. And listening to business podcasts like This Girl Means Business, Entrepreneur on Fire, and the Dave Ramsey Show.

So if you're feeling like your life is sooooo complicated and complex and you don't know what to do or where to begin, then remember. The solution is simple: Read, listen, and associate. Start with something by Jim Rohn.

We have no excuses.

Most people won't do these three things. Read, listen, and associate. And that's why most people just can't get past living in a constant state of emergency, negativity, and crisis. Don't be like most people.
